Winner of the International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition and one of the fastest-rising young jazz singers in the country, April Varner brings her sextet to Ro Cham Beau for an intimate Detroit-area performance.
With only 70 seats available, this is a rare chance to hear one of jazz’s emerging voices up close.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, and a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Varner has earned national recognition for her artistry, including being named a 2025 Rising Star Female Vocalist in DownBeat Magazine’s Critics Poll. Her debut album, April, was selected among DownBeat’s Best Albums of 2024 in the Debuts category, and her work as both a vocalist and composer has garnered recognition from ASCAP and other leading jazz institutions.
Her latest release, Ella, is available now on Cellar Music Records.
